From drawing to reality: Automatic powder coating line for KOKYO Vietnam

KIEUAN has completed the installation of an automatic electrostatic powder coating line for KOKYO Vietnam Factory Engineering Co., Ltd. (KTFV) at Hoa Mac Industrial Park, Ninh Binh, and the line is now being commissioned. From the first layout in November 2025, through 3D modelling and in-house fabrication, to the first coated products at the end of October 2026 – this is KIEUAN's journey "from drawing to reality".

Project overview

The client's brief

• 240 pieces per hour with stable, continuous operation.
• 5-stage zinc-phosphate pre-treatment for strong adhesion and corrosion resistance.
• An even coating on both the inside and the outside of each box.
• A compact layout within the existing building, with good control of powder and chemicals.

Consulting and design: from layout to 3D model

KIEUAN proposed the first layout in November 2025 and refined it with the client over several rounds to fit the real factory floor: the pre-treatment line sits outside under a canopy, while painting and curing are inside. The contract was signed in July 2026 and installation drawings were approved in September 2026. Before fabrication, the whole line was modelled in 3D, so the client could see the future line and the team could check rail heights, walkways and equipment positions in advance.

Fabrication and factory testing

From August 2026 all equipment was built in the KIEUAN workshop, with daily production plans and progress reports: cutting, bending and welding steel frames; fabricating the SUS304 stainless spray tunnel, tanks and panels; building the automatic gun reciprocators and setting up the guns with sample parts. A model of the spray tunnel was erected in our factory to test the chemical spraying before shipping, shortening adjustment time on site.

Delivery and installation

The equipment arrived on site on 30 September 2026 and the floor was set out to the drawings. Nearly a month of continuous installation followed, with daily plans and progress reports. Main systems:

• 5-stage spray pre-treatment (degreasing – rinse – conditioning – zinc phosphate – rinse): 20 m SUS304 tunnel, Ebara pumps.
• Drying oven, 90 kW electric, 100–120 °C.
• Spray booths for inside and outside coating: automatic guns, KIEUAN R-1500 reciprocators, SAMES (France) manual guns.
• Two-stage powder recovery (cyclone + cartridge filter) and automatic powder sieving.
• Dust-free enclosure with insulated panels and viewing windows.
• Curing oven, 180 kW electric, up to 220 °C.
• 165 m overhead chain conveyor with inverter speed control.
• Central PLC control panel with a 10-inch HMI touch screen.

Commissioning and fine-tuning at KTFV

From late October 2026 the line was commissioned and fine-tuned with real parts: control panels, motors, pumps, fans and heaters; chemical spraying and pressure at every pre-treatment stage; oven temperature, conveyor speed, automatic gun settings and manual touch-up positions. On 2 November 2026 KIEUAN and the client inspected the first products: an even, well-bonded coating, even inside the box. The line is being finalised for handover and production.
