In 2025, KIEU AN Co., Ltd. completed the supply and installation of a semi-automatic plating line at the X5 workshop of Viettel Manufacturing Corporation (VMC). The line has passed the owner's technical inspection and acceptance, meeting all required specifications.
SCALE AND TECHNOLOGY
The line has 45 tank positions arranged in sequence from surface preparation to plating and finishing:
+ Surface preparation: degreasing, ultrasonic degreasing for grooves and hidden corners, acid pickling, and a water-break test tank to check cleanliness.
+ Copper plating: copper strike (pyrophosphate bath) and bright copper (sulphate bath).
+ Nickel plating: matt and bright electrolytic nickel; 3 electroless nickel tanks with passivation and water-displacement tanks to prevent staining.
+ Zinc plating: 2 electrolytic zinc tanks, a bright-dip tank and 2 passivation tanks.
+ Rinsing: two-stage overflow rinse tanks and hot/ambient DI water rinse tanks between stages.
MAIN EQUIPMENT
+ Hoist crane moving parts between tanks, with matching operator platforms and tank support frames.
+ 6 DC rectifiers rated 12 V – 1000 A with busbar and power-feed systems for the plating tanks.
+ Titanium and Teflon heaters, with temperature control for each tank on the control cabinet.
+ 13 four-cartridge chemical filters, circulation pumps and dry compressed-air agitation at the tank bottom.
+ Ultrasonic generators and a centrifugal dryer.
+ Fume hoods and exhaust ducting at each tank; water supply and drainage system.
+ Plating tanks in 15 mm PP-DWU with PP-clad steel box-section frames; ultrasonic tank in 304 stainless steel.
IMPLEMENTATION
The line was built and test-run at the KIEU AN workshop, then installed at the VMC plant, followed by trial plating on sample parts, operator training and handover of the process documentation to the owner.
